Storm/ Water Conditions
Recent years have seen an increase in Tropical Storms in Southern California.
In 2023 our Naples Island Swim was cancelled and rescheduled as a direct result of a Tropical Storm.
We learned that water quality is often severely impacted for weeks after such storms.
As a result, in the event of such circumstances, we will cancel the event and rollover all swimmers to the following year. An email will be sent out to all registered swimmers to inform them. No refunds will be given.

General Water Conditions
In general, Summer Season water temperatures in the Long Beach, California Los Alamitos Bay can range from low 60's °F to the upper 60's °F.
The temperature can swing 3-4 degrees within just a couple day's time. The swimming events will be cancelled or held with shorted race distances following USA Swimming's low water temperature limit of
60.8 °F.
